An Upper East Side townhouse at 170 East 80th Street, known for its indoor waterfall, secured the most expensive contract in Manhattan last week, with a final asking price just under $18 million. The 11,000-square-foot property, formerly an art gallery, was owned by Katie Shin, who bought it for $8.5 million in 2008 and spent $20 million on renovations. Financial troubles led her to transfer the deed to a lender in 2021. Another notable sale was a penthouse at 170 East End Avenue, listed for $17 million.
