Canadian biotech entrepreneur Carlo Bellini’s real estate firm 99c has acquired 180 Maiden Lane in the Financial District for $297 million. The 41-story office tower, previously bought by Clarion Partners and MHP for $470 million in 2015, was listed as a short sale in January following a maturing loan. The building, which sits on the East River waterfront and spans 1.2 million square feet, is 68% occupied with tenants including National Debt Relief and Cover Whale. The deal was brokered by Gary Phillips and Will Silverman of Eastdil Secured. This is Bellini’s second commercial property purchase in NYC.
