Urban Builders Collaborative, led by Matthew Gross, filed plans for a six-story, 146-unit family shelter at 38-80 11th Street in Long Island City, Queens. The 110,511-square-foot building will feature congregate living spaces designed for homeless families. The project, designed by ESKW/Architects, utilizes the M1-3 zoning, which permits a high floor area ratio (FAR) for manufacturing uses.
Urban Builders Collaborative acquired the development site earlier in 2024 for $14 million. The building’s layout includes 27 units per floor from the second through the sixth floor, with 11 units on the ground floor.
