Orange Township has approved a $350 million redevelopment of the Orange Memorial Hospital site, marking one of the largest projects in Essex County’s history. Gateway Merchant Banking plans to transform the 10-acre property at 188 South Essex Street into a mixed-use complex with 1,005 apartments, including affordable, senior, and student housing. The development will feature amenities such as a rooftop pool, sky lounge, fitness rooms, retail space, and a public ice skating rink. Additionally, 70,000 square feet of retail and commercial space will be created. The project is expected to begin later this year, with completion anticipated by 2026.
