Ian Bruce Eichner plans to withdraw his Crown Heights development project near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, even after receiving City Planning Commission approval. The commission had modified Eichner’s rezoning proposal to reduce the building’s shadow impact on the garden. However, Eichner’s lawyer argued that these changes made the project financially unfeasible, as it would reduce the number of market-rate units. Eichner initially proposed 475 apartments, with 119 being income-restricted. The new plan allowed only 355 units. Facing further demands for affordability and financial constraints, Eichner intends to halt the project.
