Kushner Companies settled with First Real Estate Investment Trust of New Jersey, agreeing to pay $16.9 million. The dispute stemmed from a failed $186 million deal for six apartment properties in northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley, initiated in January 2020. Due to pandemic-related restrictions, Kushner was unable to inspect the properties before the deal collapsed, leading to a lawsuit for breach of contract. In 2022, Kushner was initially awarded the return of its $15 million deposit.
