Steve Stuart, a managing director at Fortress Investment Group, is leaving the firm after more than two decades. Stuart led new business origination for Fortress’ credit and real estate team and played a key role in major deals, including Harry Macklowe’s high-stakes 2007 acquisition. His departure follows a leadership shift after Mubadala Capital and Fortress bought out SoftBank’s stake, moving the firm’s center of power to Texas. Stuart is leaving on good terms, and it remains unclear whether he has a new venture lined up.
