The Galvan Initiatives Foundation lost Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from New York State’s Division of Homes and Community Renewal after demolishing two potentially historic buildings without approval. This forced Galvan to abandon its initial affordable housing plan at the State and Seventh streets site in Hudson. Instead, the foundation is now focusing on a mix of market-rate and workforce housing, with only 20 of 75 units designated as affordable. Galvan is seeking $3 million in property tax breaks over 20 years for the $26 million project. The Hudson-Catskill Housing Coalition has withdrawn support due to the pivot.
