Willy Pilku

Willy Pilku

Willy Pilku, CEO of Core Scaffolding, plans to redevelop a blighted Red Hook site at 150 Mill Street into a 10-story, mixed-use office building. However, his proposal faces opposition from City Council member Alexa Avilés, who demands more industrial space, citing concerns about preserving middle-wage jobs. While the project has support from Community Board 6 and local residents who need a grocery store, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso also opposes it, worried about the erosion of industrial jobs. Pilku has offered some space for light manufacturing and a nonprofit, but financing remains challenging.
